AMCS Group acquires The Solution Works

AMCS Group, the global leader in information solutions for the recycling and waste management industry, has expanded its UK and USA operations with the acquisition of their long term partner UK based software services provider, The Solution Works.

The combined expertise of the merged companies delivers a one-stop-shop for customers' digital needs, Together, AMCS and TSW have a proven track-record of delivering IT solutions to a range of public and private organisations.

Custom Solutions

TSW founding partner and new AMCS Director of Custom Solutions Andrew McKelvie said: "In terms of day to day operations it will be business as usual, except that we will have increased capacity, greater capabilities, and a wider pool of products, placing us in a much stronger position to achieve rapid and sustainable growth in the years to come. All existing TSW personnel have transferred to AMCS and we continue to operate from our offices in Greenock. The strategy of the new business is one of high growth, and the skills and experience of the TSW workforce are an integral part of that strategy."

eWARD - in the news

eWARD has appeared in the Pharamaceutical Journal with reference to its features regarding patient demographics, clinical diagnoses, treatment plan information and medicines reconciliation on admission.

The article points to the fact that, with the aid of eWARD, 80-90% of patients who come into acute care have medication details electronically recorded and medicines reconciliation completed within 24 hours, 7 days a week. This compares favourably to the previous figure of 10%, 5 days a week and has helped to reduce hospital death rates.

eWARD - Nominated For Awards

We are delighted to announce that NHS Forth Valley have been nominated for a number of awards, with eWARD playing a key role.

NHS Forth Valley were runners up at the Celebrating Success Awards for Electronic Transfer of Immediate Discharge Letters from Acute Services to General Practice (facilitated by eWARD)

In addition, NHS Forth Valley were nominated in the eHealth Awards under the Best NHS Scotland use of Innovative IT for Patient Care category for Replacing the Ward Whiteboard. The replacement of the whiteboard was a key part of the recently developed Bed Management functionality.

The Bed Management capabilities of eWARD were also showcased in a recent eHealth article, in which Ward Sister Lorraine Gallagher states: "The new electronic ward board has made a huge difference to patient tracking. With near real-time bed management information now available the system allows staff to immediately see when a bed is available for another patient and allows planning and anticipation of patient arrivals from different wards."

eWARD - Nursing Handover and Bed Management

We are delighted to announce the release of new eWARD functionality to support Nursing Handover and Bed Management.

The Nursing Handover functionality supports the handover of patient care by nursing staff between shifts to ensure that they are aware of the status of each patient on each ward.

The Bed Management functionality provides an intuitive user interface (designed to support SMART Boards and other interactive displays, including drag-and-drop) encouraging real-time update of patient movements and enabling management of ward capacity on a day-to-day basis.

The new Nursing Handover and Bed Management functionality is currently being piloted by NHS Forth Valley and has been well-received by users.

eWARD and The Scottish Pharmacist Awards

We are delighted to announce that NHS Forth Valley received further recognition for its achievements in The Scottish Pharmacist Awards, which took place at the Edinburgh International Convention Centre on 27 February 2010. eWARD is at the centre of a revised pharmacy workflow at NHS Forth Valley, enabling increased efficiency and effectiveness of the Pharmacy team.

NHS Forth Valley won the awards for Hospital Pharmacy Team of the Year and Innovation and Change in Pharmacy Practice.

Our medical product "eWARD" has been praised by NHS Forth Valley for facilitating improvements in patient care.

The use of eWARD by NHS Forth Valley has halved prescription waiting times. eWARD allows doctors and pharmacists to communicate more effectively and have drug and dispensing information available at their fingertips via hand-held devices or laptops.
